We have been discussing about grama devatas. In every ancient village of tamilnadu, there will be one old shiva temple, probably one vinnagaram (vishnu temple) and atleast one amman temple. This amman temple usually tends to be a temple of native worship. Probably it could older than even shiva temple and vishnu temple. Because natives started worship only with mother goddess. It was the female deity which was worshipped in the very beginnings In uttaramerur, there is vinnagaram (sundara varadha temple) shiva temple (called kailasanatha temple) and two goddess shrines (Madhari amman temple and merkaali amman temple)
In ancient amman shrines one can encounter sapthamatrikas - possibly with veerabhadra and Ganapathi on either side
