    European Academy of Vedic sciences
    Integration of science and spirituality

The European Academy of Vedic Sciences connects research and
teaching of scientific and educational institutes in more than ten
countries not only in Europe but also in other parts of the world.
The mission of the EAVS is to integrate ancient spiritual wisdom and
modern scientific knowledge for solving the urgent problems of the
    modern man.

In the year 1996 Marcus Schmieke, the president of the EAVS, started
to realize this vision by founding the Vedic Academy in south
Germany at the Weissenstein castle which in the following ten years
inspired similar academies in different European countries like
England, Hungary and Croatia. After partnering in early 2004 with
the renowned Florida Vedic College the idea of an international
Vedic university arose which combines the potential of all national
    Vedic academies.

As the result of this integration the European Academy of Vedic
Sciences is now aiming towards setting the international standard
for top level education in Vedic sciences and arts. EAVS developed
its own virtual online campus where it offers presently ten courses
in Vedic Architecture (Vasati), Vedic Astrology and Sanskrit. These
courses can be recognized by the Florida Vedic College, which can
award the Bachelor, Masters and Doctoral titles to our students.
This American titles are not comparable with European academic
degrees but show the students' excellence and qualifications to the
    public.

The European Academy of Vedic Sciences has its base in Zagreb
(Croatia) and is represented by institutes in Germany, England,
Italy, Russia, India, Hungary and USA. Its current focus of interest
is pointed towards offering spiritual solutions for urgent material
problems of the present world situation for the individual person as
well as for the society as a whole.
The members of the European Academy of Vedic Sciences are convinced
about the value of vedic wisdom and spiritual experience for giving
guidance for the progress of science, economy, politics and the life
    of the modern individual.
  • There is a powerful Indology group of academicians, who are closely
knit, have a strong network, and control the study of Samskrit, Hindu
philosophy and yoga in European and American universities. They are well
funded, mould their brand of students who are not always India friendly.
They have friends from India too, who stand to benefit by sponsorship,
exchange visits and travel. They cannot be stopped; there is no need to
    worry about them.

We also have many experts who teach Karate, feng-shui, zen etc. there is
a genuine fear that dilution of the original may happen with time.

I feel, neither proud or ashamed; I enjoy watching it from the
    sidelines.

  • hi sir

i am sorry if my subject line was too open ended.. what i meant was -
on one side seeing the amount of interest generated and quality
work done across the globe fills your heart - but on the same note,
it pains to see that there is much more that can or could hv been
done in india which is neglected - could be due to the over
zealousness to hold this back by a `privileged few' for a long time
and what followed was a over correction by tainting sanskrit as a
    lang of the "....."
  • Talking about Sanskrit in India is anti-secular...thats the state we
are in. As already discussed in this group, brahmin bashing and anti-
brahminical anti-sanskrit sentiments rule our country.

There were instances where the brahmins tried to overrule, but never
the vedas say that it should be read only by brahmins nor it was
    practices.

Recently few of our group members got the previlege to get some old
books from venkatesh's house. Out of the lot I picked, one was
published in 1920. Though I have not even started reading these books,
    i went through the topics.

This specific book titled 'Omkara porulvilakkam' has a caption,
naanooru veda pramanangaludan, ie. with 400 references from veda. The
    author's name is Arunagiri MUDHALIAR.

Reading sanskrit and remembering things are quite difficult. If a
person has to quote 400 references just for the word 'OM' from vedas,
I was wondering what a knowledge this Arunagiri Mudhaliar would have
possessed. He would have been a veda virpannar. I was literally spell
    bound.

Compiling 400 references is not an overnight task. Should have taken
atleast a decade to compile. And one needs through knowledge to
compile things. So Arunagiri Mudhaliar should have started reading
vedas atleast by 1890 or lates by 1900 to acquire such knowledge.

This gave me a new dimension. In 1920, the initial days of the active
Dravidian movement (ie. anti brahminical movement), if a Mudhaliar is
well versed in Veda's, are we not fools to still say that the brahmins
never allowed others to read vedas?

Howdy, Stranger!
