I have just returned froma cathedral and church fatique....but it raised afew burning issues
1. We were at the Colloseum Yes the one when men killed and the rest watched and they have beutiful underground areas from where animals springs out....like in Gladiator....One of the kids asked what sort of animals did they have... The Guide said all sorts including Tigers from India as South India was a big trading partner of Rome....I was telling my 6 year old abou how the British were living in caves when Romans were living in Cities and had a great culture...just before we went there...Turned and said so we were great then because we had people coming to rome when the brits were still in caves...then we should be really proud dada!!!
2. We were queing up to see the Cistine chapel and the Guide was saying how difficult it was to paint a fresco and how the divine had done it in cistine chpael before the lime dried and I am thinking but this form of painting was done 500 years before michaelangelo in Bigtemple and said this to Gomathi and there were some suprised liiks from the crowds......yet how many of our youngsters know this
3. A great amount of emphasis was laid on M'angelo painting nudes recording the correct dimensions of the body prior to which all were completely covered from neck to toe....Ajanta ....anybody which again predates Cistine chapel
5. Admiring the sculptures and painting in real time ...yes you climb the dome of st peters or the milan gothic cathedrala nd walk on the roof...
Whay cant we do the same in bigtemple which is reserved to a precious few I was one of the luckiest thaks to SB and Kudavoil Balu...We should have conducted tours to the inners walls and the paintings in the Bigtemple
6. audioguides....SB sir Sriraman sir We alked about this before...More in next
