We have discussed about various authors earlier - tamil, English etc.
Many books were discussed. Can we discuss about Stories which the authors have acknowledged that they came across this somewhere or heard it from someone etc?
I feel most of authors pick up stories not from the ether, but from the surroundings they lived or came across.
Kalki's 'Mogini Theevu' - he says as if the story was narrated to him by his friend. 'Poi Maan Karadu' - He writes as if the driver narrates the story while they pass a place called Poi maan karadu. Do we have any other story like this from kalki?
Every one loves RK Narayan, because he brings the kid in us. Its sure that he picked up the threads from his childhood. We are transported back in time when we read his stories. Just a glimpse of a person sometimes evoke unexpressed emotions in us. Sometimes we think about who and what they are. But great authors are able to express what they feel, unlike us. RKN would have probably seen an astrologer on the road side and came up with his 'the great astrologer', a samiyar on the river side and came up with his classi 'Guide', so on so forth.
Shall we talk something about this? This will give us an oppurtunity to know more about the background of the books we read.
