    Chapter VII, Parantaka I, Heading : Close of Parantaka's reign:
    ".. An inscription .. Punganur Taluk, Chittoor is dated in his 48th
    year., i.e, 955 AD. He had many wives .. no fewer than 11 ..
    Kokkilan - mother of Rajaditya, called also Kodandarama, eldest son
    of Parantaka, who died in the battle of Takkolam; Arinjaya's mother
    was a Kerala Prinicess... large influx of Malayalis into the Cola
    country in search of service under the king and his sons... Besides
    Rajaditya, Parantaka had four other sons: Gandraditya, Arikulakesari,
    Uttamasili and Arindigai or Arinjaya of the plates. One daughter
    Viramadevi, Queen of Govinda Vallavariyar.. and another Anupama, was
    married to the chieftan of Kodumbalur. .... The Thiruvalangadu plates
    describe him as the bee at the lotus feet of Lord Siva (Purantaka)
    and they and the Leyden grant concur that he covered with gold the
    Siva temple of Chidambaram.... "

    Adds Sastry in the foot note :

    "Was it an accident that Aditya Pandya contemporary was a Parantaka
    Viranarayana, and that Aditya's son also had the names Parantaka and
    Viranarayan? Or was it more common then to name the first children
    after their MATERNAL grandparents then it is now? "
