as rightly pointed out by venkatesh - its a very unique structure among mallai monuments- a strutural temple on top of a hill - during its hey days - the village folk had to donate one uzakku oil for lighting perpetual lamp - so it came to be known as oru uzakku eesan koyil - which has now come to be known as olakaneshwara temple. as regards ancient lighthouse - well the `new' light house itself is ancient - am working on a post on these right now, will have it up by tmmrw for all to enjoy
