mythological deluge, sirkazhi,noah and vanthiyathevans
  • freinds,
sometimes it is called as collective unconscious. a term coined by karl
jung-a psychoanalyst and contemporary of freud.he says all of us have a
common unconscious fantasies and imaginations that manifests in art and
fictions.the celebarated novel characters often resemble each other may
be due to this collective unconscious phenomenon.even characters like
noah of bible has similiar one in tamil.

the thoniyapar concept in seerkazhi is exactly same. ther was a deluge
in tamil country and all organisms were destroyed. then siva started
lives afresh by keeping the germinal seeds in a boat. hence thoniapar.
the boat reached seerkazhi and siva floated the pots containing the
germinal seeds in the water. the pots reached a place and were there
was a heap of land. that is present day kumbakonam.

the seeds were released to the land mass and the lives flourished
again.the mahamaham celeberated once in 12 years in the memory of the
deluge and the prayer thanks for the god siva for the revival of life
    in earth.

the deluge of seerkazhi and the biblical deluge had a similiarity to
the sumerian epic called gilgamesh. the gilgamesh had a character
called enkidu which was similiar to noah and thoniapar.

so characters resmbling each other especialy very popular classic ones
may well be a reflection of collective unconscious.

Yes - the collective conciousness often manifests itself in habits
    across the world.
for example people generally avoid blue coloured foods.
very few of our foods are blue and the colour itself is considered un
appetizing and people on diets are often asked to eat on blue plates.
the reason is that most of the natural poisons were blue in colour(
nila kanta- shivas neck became blue after drinking poison)
the cave men avoided any thing blue in colour for his dinner. the
    collective conciousness is still felt.
we have very few foods in blue.
even pepsi which started a blue pepsi had to shut down its sales.
