freinds, about 2 years ago we had a meeting with former tamil university VC dr.avvai.durai natarajan. he said about his experiences with the poombuhar project.
he said the researches were not very systematic and many artifacts that had been found gave a confusing picture. he said the entire tanjore region has enormous potential for archeological studies but because of the poor resources the available evidences are piecemeal and patchy.
in short he felt that much study on poombuhar was not done due to financial constraints. he said the scope is enormous for further studies. he was hopefull that many pathbreaking findings could be waiting if studies are large enough.
