is marathi the most dravidianised indo-iranian language
  • freinds,
recently one VIP came to annamalai and she said her PhD was an the dravidian roots in marathi. in her speech she said marathi has the most dravidian elements amongst north-indian languages.

linguists in annamalai also felt she is correct and they also feel chattisgarghi, bengali and oriya too have significant dravidian elements.

there is one certain region in afganistan which has some dravidian words in their pushtu language system. there is also one such region in turkmenistan that has an area where people have a dravidian like words aplenty in their turkish family of language system.

modern archeologists and liguists are fairly certain that proto-dravidian originated in mesopotomia. in fact one "elamite dynasty" mentioned in ealy chapters of old testament may well be a dravidian kingdom.

Could you please define the term dravidian?
    and when the term originated.

    Hi Gandhi ram

supporting evidence is required in such issues. circumstantial evidences like similar sounding words in different languages are not enough
amma sounds similar in so many languages

the number eight sounds astonishingly similar across the seas

    ettu, eight, ashta, aat, octa,French -- huit (oo-WEET),Italian - Otto (both "o" long),Romanian -- num opt,German -- acht (ahkt),Portuguese -- oito (o-ee-to)Gaelic - ochd

we have genetic mapping these days to collobarate or deny hypotheses.

indeed we have some experts in this group too whose explanations can be seen in the archieves.

from the wiki( arun krishnan can explain better though)
A number of earlier anthropologists held the view that the Dravidian peoples together were a distinct race.
Comprehensive genetic studies have proven that this is not the case,

The genetic studies also indicated that the origin of the Dravidian speakers is the Indian subcontinent.
Recent studies of the distribution of alleles on the Y chromosome, microsatellite DNA, and mitochondrial DNA in India have cast overwhelmingly strong doubt for a biologically identifiable "Dravidian race" distinct from non-Dravidians in the Indian subcontinent.

what tests are revealing is that genetic make up of majority of indians are quite similar.
