Nandhipuram @ Thirukkandiyur
  • NANDHIPURAM :

Dear Gokul, The book Nandhipuram is comprised of about 80 pages.
Scanning is difficult. I shall send you one hard copy by courier.

As you rightly pointed out, this book is also haunting me for several
    reasons:
    1. All along Aditha Karikalan's Pon Maligai in PS was a misfit
from my perspective. Sundara chola was known as Pon-maligai thunjiya
devar.. so this line of thinking surfaced; How Adithaya could get
that kind of money to construct a place roofed with Gold? In how
many wars? Who were enemies? Who were partners? What was Partners'
    share? ..?… ?
    2. AK is depicted more as Anti-hero.. present day certain
characters played by Prakashraj or Raguvaran… AK beheaded
Virapandiyan and displayed the head infront of Thanjai Palace of
Sundara Chola – as per Esalam Copper plates found only in 1987. "
Veerapandiyan Thalai konda Aditha karikalanai kondra Drohigalana …..
says Udayarkudi inscripition". This line should have formed the
basis for the characterization of AK by Kalki…
    3. After Aditha Karikalan's death, with Kundavai +
Vandhiyathevan gone to Thiruvallam (near Ranipet / North Arcot Dt – 8
Km South east of Melpadi - Arijayeeswaram), I could not subscribe to
the theory that Sundara + Vanavanmadevi deserted Arumoli to remain
    near Thanjavur and stayed in Kanchi – under the Rule of Uthama;
    4. Five years back, our group even debated whether present
Sankara madam in Kanchi was the so called Pon Maligai ?!

Kudvoil gives a wonderful answer to these Questions. It is
Nandhipuram (Thirukkandiyur) where there was Ponmaliagai and Sundara
+ Vanavanmadevi died here – just 10 Kms North of Thanjavur. This
suits well in place of Kanchi. A subsidiary power-Centre near Main
    power-Centre. Thanjai – Nandhipuram (Kandiyur) - Udayarkudi –
Gangaikondacholapuram – Pazhayarai – all within 25 miles vicinity.

By this postulate, Kudavoil confronts Sastry – R.Goplan –
Rasamanickanar (KKvn's father) & Sadhasiva Pandarathar. Dr.
    Nagaswamy supports this theory.

Before I represent this wonderful work of Kudavoil, I want to set the
trend. Hence the earlier mails. Let us get on to business now.

    Fondly, SB
