Kalki avoided all the 40 + names of RR and chose Ponniyin Selvan to denote Arunmozhi - turned RR - turned SPS!
As PS he was docile ..intelligent .. romantic..
As RR he was aggressive .. leader of masses..
As SPS he disclaimed all the above and became simple Sivanadiar.. This influence is there in Kalki's Sivakamiayin sabadam also..when describing Mahendra!
The Pillar - we have seen amazingly - dear Kamal & Krupa, is from Sivapadasegara mangalattu Thirumaligai .....in that Paazh (paal) kulathuamman...at Udayalur ..
There are nearly 40+ names .. only a few are religeous and SPS should have been the last title he conferred upon - by someone or he himself..
As Gokul mentioned, there should be some connection.. a part of the inscriptions are cemented also ... We do not subscribe that Udayalur was RR's pallippadai .. it cannot be - because Sundarapandiyan did not leave any such semblence of heroic thing left out when invaded..
He should have passed away near Thanjai or Pazhayarai (Thiruvalanchuzhi)... where Rajendra conducted the 1st ceremony for RR in 1015 by entering a hill of Thilam ....
Re Sridhar's mention of statues, he is absolutely correct - they are RRs. An old bearded person with a crown youth - may be RR (Sivapadha sekaran) & Rajendra ... in those first floor paintings - and also under the famous "Naam koduthanavum nam akkan koduthananavum koduppar koduthanavum " inscriptions ..) THE GRANTS START here in this wall (Nothern wall) only. His wives grants are carved on other walls .. Kundavai was so much respected by him...
