You are talking about Udayalur - which is South East of Pazhayarai by about 3 Kms - about 1.5 Kms from Nandhipuram @ Nathankoil - closer to Ammankudi (Krishnanraman c-in-c of RR)'s Duragai temple - sourrounded by Pambaipadaiveedu, Aryapadaiveedu and what not! A detailed work is already conducted by Kudavoil & Kalaikkovan and they rejected this place where RR slept.
Udayarkudi is 1 Km South of Veeranam lake and 1km north of Veeranarayanaperumal temple - 4 Kms north of Kadambur. About 20 Kms from Sethiathope (Thirumunappadi nadu - as described by Kalki) Udayarkudi is now known as KATTUMANNARKUDI. The temple diety is Avantheeswarar. While VN Perumal is figuring as Divyadesam, Avantheeswarar is not figuring in Thevaram or even referred as Vaippusthalam. Means - the existence is not recorded between 6th and 8th Centurities by Nayanmars.
The Kumbabishekam of this temple is planned within 2 - 3 months and renovation work is going on. Kudavoil - KKvn are taking care to retain the inscriptions. There are 96 inscriptions in this temple. One such has formed the basis for PS novel.
RR's son Rajendra performed his father's first death anniversary ceremonies in Thiruvalanchuzhi - 1 Km South of Swamimalai - 2 Kms north of Pazhayarai. RR's family members' gifts are figuring here. Vimaladithan's Chalukya works are also noticed. Detailed reserach at this temple is planned within 2 -3 months by some of our members with the help of Dr. Kkvn.
When Sundara Pandiya came to throne after ending Chozha dynasty's 400 yrs rule - he destroyed everything that stood against Pandyas. Hence it is difficult to get the details of RR & Rajendra in particular.
But one will be surprised that the Cholas engraved inscriptions in the inside walls of the Tank (water body)- which will not be visible till it is dry! Unaimaginable?! Therefore records should exist.
