Dr. Rajamanickanar Historical Research Centre is founded after Dr. Ra.Kalaikkovan's father - who was a historian of yesteryears. Dr.Kalaikkovan, Dr. Nalini, Dr.Akila are regularly engaged in research activities. They are interacting with ASI constantly. Present Director Mr. Sathiamurthy has honoured Airawatham Mahadevan (Dyon of History) formerly ASI - in Trichy last Saturday. The progm was sponsored by RMHRC. In the progm Mr. Sathiamurthy spoke of unearthing 30 urns of Sangam Period in Thirunelveli by ASI. They contained bones, food grains, utensils, coins etc., - similar to 'mummy' discovery! - but body not preserved as mummy. In 1907, certain excavations were conducted in this area by the British. The field work was carried out in about 100 acres.
Present subject :: Lalgudi Temple :: is a report of research conducted by RMHRC. Gokul has already made a mention of it. When I meet Dr. Kkvn I will try to collect more informations and put in the mail. I think it is being reported in detail in the forth-coming Varalaru issue of RMHRC.
Incidentally our Anirudha Brahmarayar (PS) hailed from ANBIL village which is nearer to Lalgudi.
