The Question you put is very pertinent. Did not occur to me. But Cholzhas - implying Tamil - itself a very vast field. Vijayalaya - Parantaka I - successors started playing from 850 AD till 985's RR. Pallavas preceded them. Chalukyas were their contemporaries.
Chozhas art form modified from that of Pallavas ... more perfected during RR / Rajendra because of their exposure to various neighbouring states ... should be the plane to consider this question..
