  • Kumbakonam Sarangapani Perumal Paramabhatha Sevai

    Vaikunta Ekadasi is one the
important and auspicious days to the Hindus. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It
occurs in the Hindu calendar, in the month of Markazhi (Between December and January). On this day, the
Swarga Vaasal, 'The Gates of Heaven' are believed to be kept open. The area
encircling the sanctum is referred to Swarga Vaasal and devotees throng to gain
entry into the temple, to seek the Lord. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple Srirangam Vaikunta
Ekadashi celebrations is performed with Swarga Vaasal sevai But in Kumbakonam ,
there is no Swarga Vaasal festival. Because the Lord Sarangapani temple itself
is a “Boolaga Vaigundam”. So, here a special tharshan is performed on the
    entire day with “Moothankai Sevai”.
    This is the speciality of
    Kumbakonam Divyadesam.
