I would have really appreciated if you had prevented the thread from taking off at the outset
You should have known that at some point caste and religion will inevitably get dragged into the discussion
the discussion itself was quite informative and enriching whether one agreed with the views or not - and it never degenerated into exchange of abuses / namecalling etc.
you could have simply said that we have had enough on the topic and closed the thread
however you have chosen to act like a true indian secularist
As long it was the bashing of hinduism in general and brahminism in particular you were quite comfortable and even participated in the discussion
However the moment christianity and islam were brought in you suddenly became aware of the sensiivities of the members
Are Hindus/brahmins not expected to have any sensitivities at all?
********** P.S
1. As far as Thamizhnadu is concerned, Brahmins as a group have become socially irrelevant after independence. ( Even before that they have never wielded independent power and have been dependent on other groups for their sustenance)
2. 99.9999% of them are not even aware of the names of the various scriptures / treatises let alone the tenets that are under attack - i.e. the objectionable tenets, if any, have already died a natural death.
3. Why this repeated flogging of a dead horse that too on a dead issue?
********** I am writing this after a lot of deliberation and with great reluctance - but I have gone ahead as I felt that you should know the views from the other side also.
I SINCERELY HOPE THAT MY VIEWS ARE TAKEN IN THE PROPER SPIRIT
