On Oct 1st 2005, member Amar was in the process of blocking the domain name "bigtemple.com" .. it is his BRAIN CHILD. However, earlier Dr. Sridhar was very much upset with webconent of Bigtemple-related sites and submitted memorandum to Central Ministers of Govt of India.
On Oct 2nd 2005, member Vijay Veerasamy from the United kingdom blocked "thebigtemple.com"
On 3rd October 2005, member Venkatesh was opining on content mangement (which is the mail reposted now for the kind attention of new members).
Earlier PSVP was formed and one of its task was to provide content to thebigtemple.com site - contributions by : Dr.Sridhar - Surgeon / UK with Vijay Veerasamy and other Overseas members; R.Venkatesh, Vastu consultant and Editor & Publisher of various Books - with Swetha - Mylapoore Chennai ; Singapore Gokul with www.varalaaru.com Team; SPS in coordination with ASI and other contemporaru Scholars.
Re Rajarajan - an article published by Dr. Kalaikkovan and other contents in www.varalaaru.com are selected for posting by Swetha.
Gokul in coordination with ASI has taken restoration of the bigtemple painting graphically;
Dr. Sri & others worked on contents and formally launched the website.
However, as Dr. Sri and Venkat observed even in Aug 2006, the task is completed satisfactorily yet.
With Sriram (Fort Museum) and Dr. Thiaga Sathiamurthy (Retd Suptt Archgst), Banlglore Krishnapillai, Kalinga Balu, Vizag Dhivakar and enthusiastic members like Venkatesan Kasirajan & Nandakumar among us now, the content will be excellent now.
Members are requested to go through earlier mails on this: 9717, 9722, 9744, 10360, 10436 etc., will give us some more idea.
As Dr. Sridhar has set the time-frame to complete this task before Aippasi Sadhayam - which falls on the 31st Oct (not Nov 27th as wrongly mentioned by me earlier) - aippasi 15th - Tuesday - on which day celebrations are also planned in the bigtemple, Thanjavur, we need to finalise the details.
Me, Sriram Swetha and Venkat will work from Chennai / TN side. Request Gokul to interact Eastern / varalaaru tem members; Dr. Sri, Vijay & other Overseas members. Uma, Kalinga Balu & Vizag Dhivakar to coordinate with Bangalore - Rest of India members ..
In this direction, I am furnishing the first contributiuon - sourced through Dr. Nagaswamy - which is expected to take 5 - 6 postings - re CONCEPT.
Sriram & Dr. Thiaga Sthiamurthy - may consider working on Architecture and Strructural; Important & intereseting Inscriptions. Sriram & Gokul - Paintings Will try to provide one more article on the Bronzes and iconography in general through Dr. Nagaswamy and other scholars. Re Thalichery inscriptions request permission from Dr. Kalaikkovan to use contributions. Request contributions from Kudavoil Balasubramanian re Geographical & Historical details of Thanjai & the Bigtemple Request Dr. Thiaga Sathiamurthy - Sriraman to scan the contributions before inclusion in the web-site.
The efforts really make us realise how difficult it is to construct a web-site flawlessly (or with lesser flaws?) where everything is literally at our finger-tips !
