Hi all I had a free day at pune and though the sun was at his fiery best i managed to do some visits that might interest you
1. paataaleshwar temple a rastra kuta kudavarai supposedly 8th century right in the heart of the town.the entire cave structure is below ground level.huge rectangle pillars hold the structure up. lots of wall sculptures have been defaced in the muslim invasion.
2. kelkar museum the private collection of one individual had many chola bronzes, and lots of chola age stone idols.
3. bandarkar institute or oriental research v.k should visit it. it has thousands of books many of them more than a century old . mostly the first printed edition from palm leaves or copper plates. they have seperate rooms for vedas, mahabaratha and ramayana versions too.
