Dear members, It would be a nice and rare opportunity to meet each other and work on upbringing our ideas into action. Here is one chance to go to Padivancheri on 30th March 2008 together.
What Dr.T.Satyamurthy has to say on Padavancheri:-
Padivancherry is a village near Ten Aharam, 6 kms from Camp Road, Selaiyur, East Tambaram. The Kailasanatha Temple in the Village was discovered during 1995 , by one Mr. Krishnamurthy. While cutting a tree in the centre of the land known as Lingamedu, he found the top of the Lingam and through his friend approached me. At that time I was residing at camp Road and under my supervision the site was carefully excavated and the remains of the ancient temple was unearthed. It was a Pallava period Brick temple and the village was a Brahmins settlement till the Nayaka Period. We could retrieve from the inscriptions in the madambakkam Dhenupurisvaratemple that the village was known as Punseriaharam in Inscriptions and there were four temples in the village. With other archaeological evidences all the four were identified.
During the Nayaka period probably about 200 years back the village was abandoned by the Brahmins and the temples collapsed due to lack of maintenance. With the keen interest shown by the villagers lead by Krishnamurthy, former Employee of British Electricals it WAS RECONSTRUCTED and consecrated during 1999u under the guidance of Shri Sankarananda of Murugasramam Mambalam.
Every year we celebrate the annual day by conducting Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam to the linga. This year it will be on 30th March and all our members can participate and see the change in the village due to the temple and allied activities. It will commence at 8AM and will be over by 1.30PM. If we plan and go, may be we can go together in a van. Members please confirm group visit by writing back to Chandra on reachchandra@aol.in All are welcome. with wishes T.Satyamurthy
