Motif: A young girl who is fallen in love with the hero, has become sick due to separation from lover. She is waiting to get embraced by her lover.The love of the young girl is a secret and no one knows about it.The mother of the young girl seeing her sickness thinks she is changed and probably ill. Hence soothsaying women are invited to find the cause for the young girl's illness.The soothsaying women wrongly diagnose the sickness as Murukan Arananku('the hard sacred power of Murugan') has possessed her. So the mother invites Velan(the priest of Murugan) to perform sacrifices to Murugan and to Pacify him.
