certain psychological traits-keralites and tamils
  • freinds,
as maloo says the survival oriented personality adaptations are most observed amongst christians(as i observed). one type A personality was common in them. that is competetiveness, time urgency and hostility. it is with them i could hardly adjust. saivite-tamil nondualism and christian dualism philosophies confronted us.

cleanliness, news paper reading habits, litigenousness and labour militancy are proverbially common in kerala.in the street sometimes i would see an unclean boy and invarioubly he would be a tamil from salem!

hindu keralites were very nice and their customs were genuinely warm towards me simply because iam a tamilian. especially the nairs, ezhavas..etc. one other interesting phenomenon i found was a dark female is accepted by a fair male keralite without much colour prejudice. atleast the colour conscious was lesser compared to tamilians.

i did meet some malayalam scholars who even hailed tamils as their proto-type. some of them even wished they could be happier to be tamils because of our conservatism, adherence to old values and love for the leisurely agrarion countryside life.

as a whole there was some interesting post thoughts when i left kerala which would keep coming to me again and again. south india has very good reason to be proud about all its 4 language groups. if the four cooperate well we can acheive a lot.
