There were some rumours about Rajaraja's pallipadai being found in a place called udaiyaloor near kumbakonam. People cited even epigraphs and showed a shivalingam as the final resting place of RR.
Dr.Kalaikkovan - along with our PS group friends Kamal and Ram went to Udaiyaloor recently and dispelled the myths. I am waiting for kamal to post all the interesting details.
Neverthless, the epigraph quoted is interesting even without RR Pallipadai. It atleast talks about "Rajarajan Thirumaaligai" - probably the palace of the great king. The commander of Rajendra simply takes one of the pillars from the dilapated palace (why it went dilapated ?) and brought it to sivapadha sekara mangalam (what a great name) at the command of the oor sabaiyar (Naatamai).
The commander did not "fast unto death" to repair the mandapam in which RR was finally crimated. This version has no historic proof.
The pallipadai of RR should be searched around Periya koil - around tanjore. Not far away from Thakshina meeru vitankar. The temple was more than his own life to him.
