M A H A M A H A M
  • Hellow Everybody,

    How come so far we have not touched the famous M A H A M A H A M
    (Read forward or back ward or see mirror reflection :: everything
    same!) to be celebrated in our Kudandai on the 6th March?

    Last Sunday I visited the Mahamaham tank:

    They were filling water brought from various rivers all over India
    (Thanks to Actor Rajini) mixed with Cauvery water brought from near
    by sources;

    The sixteen wells located inside the tank are suitably identified and
    name boards displayed;

    Visitors already started thronging the town / tank;

    Police restrictions / hoardings / well-come signs displayed
    prominantly;

    Thanjavur - Kundadai broad guage conversion is over and trials being
    conducted;

    On Madras road - near Koranattu-karuppur / on Thanjavur road near
    Darasuram / on Mayavarm road near KV pettai a new bye-pass road -
    OUTER RING ROAD - is already put into use in less than 4 months time

    Near these points all the vehicles will be terminated from the 29th
    Feb and van services will be put into use till the 5th. On 5th, 6th
    & 7th Mar only cycle-rickshaws will play for senior citizens. Others
    will have to walk the distance. No Vehicle will be permitted.

    No new lodging house(s) constructed (unlike for World Tamil
    Conference in Thanjavur a few years back). I have noticed one Hotel
    Paradise - Veg. Restaurant - near Sarangapani temple - as a new
    addition. Other wise Kudandai remains the same. Some encroachments
    removed. Town looks very neat - free of garbages.

    Sign boards display the pilgrimage spots around Kudandai with a route
    map and distances marked.

    Noticed foreign tourists roaming around in South Indian costumes!

    Kumudham Bakthi has brought out a Mahamaham special :: Temples around
    Kudandai.

    Fondly, SB
