was just probing if there were any similarities between the pyramids of egypt and our big temple.
came across two very interesting things. one is a photo of the roof of a passage within the red pyramid. it looked strikingly similar to the roof between the two walls above the sanctum.( suganya had posted her photo of it after the visit there.
the second was the phot of a bent pyramid. this looked exactly like the chidambaram koil gold roof.( could be also due to stability and wind resistance factors for the thatch over brick kilns are done in the same shape. I am posting the photos of the roof and bent pyramid for a weeks time on the photos section .please see it.
> one is a photo of the roof of a passage within the red pyramid. > it looked strikingly similar to the roof between the two walls above
This is most interesting. Needs further research.
> the second was the phot of a bent pyramid. > this looked exactly like the chidambaram koil gold roof.
Hm....the bent pyramid is symmetrical but ponnambalam is not. Also I am not sure whether we can draw much from this similarity as one is made of stone under a different environment(desert) while the other is a inner sanctum sanctorum.
> When read of Hiranya garbam, it was stated that it was performed to
I think the vedas begin with something like "Hiranya garbha tamavat...bhootasya jasas spathireka..." - I am no exponent of sanskrit or vedas so this info or verse may be wrong
Also note another well quoted verse - considered to be the very essence of vedas :
Aasa(t)yoma satgamaya (Take me from untruth to truth)
Thamaso ma Jyothirgamaya (Take me from darkness to light)
MRITYOMA AMRUTHAM GAMAYA (TAKE ME FROM DEATH TO ETERNAL LIVING !)
another interesting fact I picked up from wikipedia
According to the Guinness Book of Records, a mexican pyramid is the largest pyramid as well as the largest monument ever constructed anywhere in the world, with a total volume estimated at 4.45 million m³, almost one third larger than that of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
thats not all..........................
it is called The Great Pyramid of Cholula (?????????)
it is a huge temple-pyramid complex located in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. The complex was built over many generations, up to the early 16th century AD, and was dedicated to the deity Quetzalcoatl. It is the largest Pre-Columbian pyramid by volume, with a base of 450 by 450 m (1476x1476 ft)
but look at the height of the monument 66 m (217 ft). ( very close to the height of brigadeeshwara +/- a few feet)
Cholula was an important city of Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, dating back to at least the 2nd century BC, It was later the second largest city of the Aztec empire.
The original Nahuatl name was """""cholöllan""""" and "" chol-öl- tlan""" of which the possible etymology is meaning something like "place where the Chol-Olmecs are", referring to the Chol branch of the Maya
Chol is a Maya ethnic group of northern Chiapas in South-Eastern Mexico. They speak the Chol language.
so many buildings across the great seas with the same height does the height ( 215- 220 ft)have anything to do with a mysterious number or pure geometry????
the base of all these building are different of course venketesh
-dear sps checked up on the linga raja temple at bhubaneshwar. the vimana of the Lingaraja temple rises about 180 feet, dominating the landscape for miles around. some 35 feet lesser than the bigtemple. but there are other similarities Traditionally, the construction of the temple is associated with three of the later 'Somavamsi' kings with names ending in 'Kesari' (???????) an inscription on the wall s mentions a' king 'Anantavarman Chodaganga', ( a much later dynasty that was an off shoot of tanjore cholas called themselves the telugu chodas) This 11th century temple is dedicated to "Tri Bhubaneshwar", or Lord of the three worlds(thirupuram??????)
(Dr sri, thats a nice quiz uestion. which indian capital is named after shiva and which after vishnu)
the shape of the temple is almost straight in the beginning, then bending gradually, forming a convex curve. This inward curving is obtained by corbelling, a system where each successive block of stone extends a little bit beyond the previous one,( exactly what has hapened at tanjore) the shape of the vimanam resembles a lingam. it also resembles the inner hollow of the big temple. I just thought of a co incidence. was the linga raja temple a structural representation of the hollow of the big temple. the height matches almost to a few feet. we have to check up on the size of the big temple hollow and the circumference of the linga raja temple.
