I recently heard something which thrilled me. Not sure to discuss this or not in this group..but cant stop my curiosity...
first thing, Mylapore has been mentioned in devaram..in Appars song appar mentions "Mayil appu" or something. Venkatesh can you please throw some light on this.
Another thing was much thrilling. in mecca, at the center where they have the pedastal which is alwasy covered with a cloth,it seems we can see an outline like sivalingam. Also, it seems appar had sung "makkeesar" or sorts which possibly could have referred to Mecca.
Am not sure whether these are true. have anyone heard these things.
-it was appar who mentioned mayiaappu in the thevaram he sang about inthiruvotriyur.
so mylai remained a vaiputhalam( one mentioned elsewhere) till sambandar came and gave it its own poompavaipathigam.
very rarely are mortals mentioned in devaram. sundarar has the audacity to mention both his wives sometimes.
in mylapore sambandar mentions a chetti pen poom paavai D/O sivanesan 11 times. the scene is she is already dead and he addresses her ashes.
mecca- mohammed himself mentions he broke pagan idols and placed themn in side the kaaba. macciswaram and madineeswaram seem a little far fetched however. venketesh
