Today in Eldams Road "Thathwaloka" Hall, our beloved plstics Chandra invited UZHAVARAPPANI members from various parts of the State.
Dr. Thiaga Sathiamurthy welcomed "Silai meetta Semmal" Dr. R.Nagaswamy who presided over the function. Chief Guest is non other T.S.Sridhar IAS, who rexcently assumed Charges as State Tourism Secretary from State Archeology Dept. Because of Saniperyarchi, HR&CE Board Jt. Secy could not attend. The hall was given free for use by TN Ramachandran.
Dr. Nagaswmy's speech with Power point presentation on Tranqubar Masilamaneeswarar temple was remarkable. TS Stidhar IAS highlighted tourism potential in ancient places of worship.
Our beloved PS Sriraman's power point presentation on how to preserve the temple, DOs and DONTs guidelines while undertaking renovation with specific reference to Dharmasthala Temple Preservation Trust stole the show.
Uzhavaranappani participants were represented in the dias by Komal Sekar - whose speech was well attended and appreciated by one and all and evidently HE WAS THE MAN OF THE WORKSHOP.
Komal Sekar - teamed with Coimbatore Kaali Steel Vasaantha Kumar Industrialist - has unertaken several prominent projects in Thanjai District such as Konerirajapuram, Karkadageswarar Thiruvisalur etc. His friend Murali of Chadura published Panniru Thirumurai in single volume and recognised by Chidambaram Dikshidars as reported early this year in our Group.
Komal Sekar highlighted ::
1. Preserving Temple by weeding any plant growing in the gaps of the walls / roofs so that major repair can be avoided in early stage itself.
2. Necessity of keeping the Temple Water Tanks in usable condition - obviously with rainwater harvesting facilities.
3. Necessity of a Nandavanam (Flower Garden)
4. Necessity of Ghosala.

When Dr. Nagaswamy spoke he clarified that Thennadudaya Sivan (or Thirumal) is ENNATTAVARKKUM IRAIVAN - citing NOT only the temples in Cambodia, Indonesia or Northern India, but also referring to a 2000 yr old GREEK COIN which contain the image of Balaraman one side and Krishna on the reverse with Tamil letters and Greek letters - that our Gods are Universal!
