I read somewhere that in his poems also he never begged anything to God, always ask in commanding tone.
"Vallamai Tharayo.... Ithai arulvathil unekkethum thadi ulatho"... This is the very poem/powerful words he has ever written as per my humble knowledge.
"En ennai sothikirari, ennai intha uppu, puli thollaigalil irunthu vidivikka mattaya, unnudya intha azhagana ulagai patri pada mattum thaan ketkiraen"
Another incident
When kannamma questions about why is he crying, I forgot the place he mentioned, he would reply our brothers and sisters are dying of hunger. Kannamma would tell that we also have the same situation.
at age of 11 he was invited to a conference of Ettayapuram court for composing poems and songs. It was here that he was conferred the title of "Bharathi" for saraswathi-Goddess of learning) people generally take the title was connected with baratha matha
Bharathi worked as a school teacher in Madurai Sethupathy High School
In December 1905, On his way back from kasi, he met Sister Nivedita, Vivekananda's disciple. this might have served as his inspiration for the "pudumai pen" and his stand to recognise the privileges of women.
Bharathi was imprisoned in the Central prison in Cuddalore in custody for three weeks - from 20 November to 14 December 1918 the only period he spent in jail.
as a journalist, Bharathi was the first in India to introduce caricatures and political cartoons to his newspapers;
Chandrika's story ( chandrikaiyin kathai) is an an unfinished novel of his.
Sep 11th is also the date on which Swami Vivekananda gave his historical speach..."My dear brothers and sisters of America"..at the Parliment of Religions in Chicago.. At the very utterance of these words, the entire gathering gave a standing ovation which took 2 full mins to subside only after which Vivekananda could continue with his speach.
this is not the original recording of the speech - infact its a dramatisation
This was brought out during the Centenary commemoration of Chicago Parliament of Religions in 1993. He played the CD and the cassette simultaneously and lo! both had omission of one para from the lecture of 27th Sept, 1893. Not only that - in narrating the story of Frog in the well, Vishwanathan had expounded in a little dramatic way by modulating his voice, Swamiji's lecture also had the same style! Wherever Vishwanathan had pronouced the word `often' as `often, Swamiji in the CD also had the same pronounciation! More over before Swamiji's lecture begins, there is an announcement in female voice. The written down records of Parliament of Religions show that there was no female announcer at that time! It appeared to our monk that the new CD has been produced by increasing the speed of the lecture and adding `noise' level so as to appear as ancient one. Vishwanathan's cassette is still available for sale from Udbodhan Office, Kolkata.Swami Vimokshananda
