FORWARDING GROUP MAILS IN PRIVATE CIRCLE.
  • SPS: Can we share the content with people we know or private lists (not internet)?
I believe there is a lot of interesting conversation here that may be helping some one somewhere. Similar to saying 'yaam petra inbam peruga ivvayagam'.

I do not know the entire case of this however I agree, the source need not be divulged... though i am forced to assume that who ever did divulge, possibly did it in best intentions to say that among so many lousy groups, there is a genuine useful group out here :-)
  • My views:

    1. It is perfectly alright to share the message with friends and like
minded lists as the message ends there.

    2. One has to be careful if the message is posted in a different group
    or forum; the message may be mis/ partially quoted and out of context;
in turn the message may invite criticism and even abusive replies, if
the issue is controversial. The original author of the message may not
even be aware of of the responses or criticism his message is getting
and he will not be in a position to rebut or offer explanations. The
original message might migrate in cyber space and may become
    unrecognisable after a few postings.

It is preferable to get the first poster's permission if the message is
likely to generate discussion (hot!!). Of course it goes without saying
that due credit is given to the author of the message.

  • Hi,

If we feel any of friends would be interested in this kind of
discussions, we should get them to sign on to the group. Being in
the group gives them access to the entire discussion and lessens
chances of being quoted out of context. They can also play a healthy
part in the discussions and content can also be `moderated'

Idea is we are all part of a PS family here and are freely sharing
thoughts and ideas - and we should follow some basic rules. we are
sharing our email addresses, and even at times phone numbers. Why do
we do that - because in a forum, there is decorum maintained and you
are feeling safe within its confines. These are things that you
wouldnt want to share with all and sundry. I feel within the forum,
if you want to use something, you could always write to the author
    and seek permission to reproduce.
