world's richest man
  • Hi

the world's richest man is an indian again.
Billionaire Mukesh Ambani on Monday became the richest person in the
world, surpassing American software czar Bill Gates, Mexican business
tycoon Carlos Slim Helu and famous investment guru Warren Buffett,
courtesy the bull run in the stock market.

Following a strong share price rally today in his three group
companies - India's most valued firm Reliance Industries [Get Quote],
Reliance Petroleum [Get Quote] and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure
Ltd [Get Quote] - the net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to $63.2
    billion (Rs 2,49,108 crore).
the last time it happened was when aziz premji topped the list.
i think amongst indians only the nizam was the world's richest man
    before that.

before him the mughals, rjc could have also been the world's
    wealthiest.

    hi venkat

i can understand if RRC or even the muguls amazing such wealth - but
what baffles me is the treasures with the arcot nawab and the
nizam...they are relatively new into the scene..how did they come in
possession of such wealth in the first case and how did they manage to
outbid the europeans - were they part of family heirlooms or all of
these large ones mined excl in india.....

anyway, its quite interesting to read about the jacob's diamond - that
it was used as a paperweight and how it was found in the toe of the
    earlier nawab's shoe/slipper.

  • Hi Vijay
    me too preplexed.
how could the nizam be richer than his marter the emperor of england?
and golconda had dried up much before he came to power.
asaf jah was a lietanant of the mughals. must be his share of their
revenue from the south. rmemeber even aurangazeb was once managing the
    south.
