  • Dear All
I am not changing topics Ill come to that in a minute
We all have questions as to why an author did something...We have three prolific authors well four including pavithra....

are there any questions you would have liked to ask them

    I have one for Diwakar

    Sir

Why did you choose Kalingarayan to be Rajathirajan's son and elder to Abayakulothungan....is it based on historical fact?
If it was your own charector why not make him someone who wasnt entitled to the crown???

Ill eloborate after the authors response

    Kind Regards
  • Dear Doctor,
Very good question and I really admire and wanted some one to do some deep research about the period of RRC, RJC till Vira Rajendra.

Kalingarayan, well, he was historic live character. He was right hand to Kulottunga and younger to him. There were some inscriptions on him and he was praised by Jayamkondar, Ottakuththar. His name was mentioned in historical research books by various authors. Kalingarayan must have continued as General even during Vikrama Period like Karunakara Thodaman.

Elder-Younger problems. This was guess only.
Kulottunga was born to Ammanga in the year of 1042-44 and lived upto 1122 CE. Kalinga Raya continued in service with Vikrama Chola after Kulottunga too.

Naturally important posts of Chola empire like General were kept with close relatives and royal safeguards.

How I can find out Kalinga Raya is Rajathi Raja's son? This is anybody's guess. For this we will have to understand deeply about RRC parambara.

RJC had four sons. All the sons had ruled one by one. Do you beleive that these four sons - no issues for them at all.

ok.. the last emperor -Vira Rajendra was the last emperor of Chola's RRC dynasty. His son ruled only for some time and it was not taken seriously, because he died within few months or years of taking the regime.

Vira Rajendra had two sons. one was Athirajendra. Another one was Mathuranthagan. Athirajendra died..ok..but when the time of Kulottunga's taking over the regime, where was Mathuranthagan (who was described by ViraRajendra himself as 'en mainthan' in inscription). He too died or killed?

Coming to crowning Kulottunga under the circumstances prevailed in those horrible days. VIITTU PERIYA PERAN and stronger one, who can face any sort of enemies must have got the priority over little sons, if there were very much alive. Kulottunga was something around 27-28 years when he was crowned as Chakravarthi of great chola regime.

Again you have to go through Chalukya Vikramathithya here who have played a very great role during this period as a sone-in-law of Vira Rajendra. His Guru Bilvana's Sanskrit work 'vikramangacharitham' (available with Saraswathi Mahal Library) did give some light on this. After all you will have to take enemy's version also while giving judgement.

Presently I am working on that theory. Let us see what I will get.

Please also note that an author of Historic Novels or any period novels cannot write historical happenings as it is. Then it was called History and those job of Historians and researchers.

of mallai...this is fiction at its very best...

sharing with you some doubts i had on mallai and a post by a living
    legend

why mallai was half complete n also very disjointed...almost like
someone was practising his art...there was not a regular pattern n
more like someone testing out his skills.

    now read this
