In this temple from the main gopuram you have to step down around 12 feet which type of entrance is available only in two temples in TN. When you see the Gopuram from inside it looks like two elephants hauling the gopuram. People says that the two elepants are the one which helped during the construction of this temple, so in the memory of these elephants the king ordered to provide these stone elephants. The tample was built by the king ketti mudaliyar, whose sitrarsu is based on a near by oor called amarakunthi.
