Sonna Vannam Seitha Peurmal And the King ?

Did we discuss about the king who asked Kanikannan to praise him? I
don't know the century of Thirumazhisai Azhvaar. But I remember
hearing the city of the king was Uraiyur, so is he a Chola?

The site also gives detailed information about each Divyadesam and
group it by location. Very informative.
  • This site http://tamilelibrary.org/teli/saints.html mentions that he
    is 7th Century.
  • Mr Thirumalai,

Thirumazhisai Azhwar, chronologically is said to have lived before
Nammazhwar, who some historians hail as the contemporary of
Vijayalaya Chozha, the first of the mediveal Cholas. So he must have
lived some where in the fag end of 9th century.

But the king was not a Chola, but a king from Kanchi. Given the fact
that Pallavas ruled from Kanchi before Vijayalaya revived the Cholas,
this king could well be a Pallava. Need not be Aparajitha, the last
of Pallavas, as there is no account regarding the time when this
incident happened. So it could be Aparajitha or one or two Kings
    prior to him.
