this story and thanks to this amazing sculpture, i had to dwell deep into the

  • VJ, the sculptures are amazing!! In Cambodia of all places.

The story has couple of small details to be added - Agni grants Arjuna an inexhaustibl quiver of fire arrows and the famous golden chariot in return, and Maya - Takshaka's accomplice grants Krishna a promise that he would build a great palace for the pandavas in Indraprastha. Indra or Maya don't remember also grant the great Gandiva bow. The snake that escapes Khandava Vana seeks revenge on Arjuna and becomes part of Karna's Nagasthra in the war. Krishna saves Arjuna by lowering the chariot and of course Karna's curse played a huge role.

Perhaps some of these details are there if we look closely.

  • Dear VJ,
Superb post, really we dont have anything like this in India? Hereafter
whereever I go will check any similar sculptures. Some photos are over
zoomed, hope you had no alternative to that.

BTW, for the past two days I am very busy here, not able to concentrate on
any other thing. At any cost I have to go to thanjai this weekend. So
working hard to achive my target.
If you need to translate any future posts please send me, as I told you I
cant work at a single stretch of time, so will take 2 to 3 days to complete.
  • Vijay, - Devas, Gods and natural elements are bound by devotion to whoever invokes them, that is why they cannot take sides. That is why Shiva appeared to Ravana and all asuras and to Arjuna as well. Also, Arjuna was born to Indra and Kunti like all children are born - meaning no catholic style births :)) The Mahabharat had a different set of values than we do now, far more progressive :)

Will surely put the comments on the site - great work, thank you.
