    I wish we could discuss the places mentioned in ponniyin selvan
    commencing a discussion on veeranam

    first of all a doubt

    is veeranam considered a dam or an excavated lake?
    encyclopeida brittanica calls it a 16 kilometer long earthern dam.

    they got the date wrong .......built from ad 1011 to 1037.

    I guess the dyke or barrage was built across a river to form the lake
    if it is a dam i guess its the one which is closest to the sea.

    the lake is 11 kilometers at the longest point and 4 kilometers wide
    at the broadest point
