kochengannan and chidambaram
  • dear group mates,
im new member. im interested in kaveri river civilisation. i have
interest in saiva philosophy. im involved with chidambaram studies.
kochenganna-cholan belongs to 150AD. he follows karikalan. he was
associated with nataraja temple. he is also one of the very few sangam
    age nayanmars.
his association with chidambaram antedates the prevailing concept of
pallava origin of chidambaram. the dheekshidhars vouch pallava hiranya
varman as the progenitor of this glorious temple.

in sangam texts chidambaram is scarcely mentioned. i do not know why
even karaikal ammayar skipped chidambaram and chose thiruvalangadu for
    siva's dance.
    any answers?
    gandhi
  • Welcome dear Gandhiram.

Gandhi & Ram .. impeccable combination.

ChidambaRAM also comprises of RAM !

In serious tone, B. Natarajan s/o Historian (Late) SR Balasubramanian
has brought out a book on Nataraja and he confines to Hiranyavarman
    only.

More details on Hiranyavarman is also interesting (from other
sources) .. pointers in the direction of Pallava origin.

We have discussed CHIDAMBARAM extensively during DASAVATHARAM movie
    making..

Pls go through Archieves ... and share with us more.

and how are we pointing to 150 AD of Cochenganan ?

Have you verified the line of hierarchy as per Tiruvalangadu Copper
    Plates ?

I think it will be worth discussing Kochenganan in detail.

Dear Gokul, Virarajendran, Vairam .. Venkat, Vijaypedia, and other
    friends .. pls help.

with very best wishes & regards,

    sps
