freinds, so for the DNA project has not arrived in chidambaram. the madurai (dr.pichappa group) has not shown interest in them. during the tsunami about half of pichavaram coastal veddoids were beleived to have perished. they were given government shelters only recently. they may be few hundreds in number. they are fast losing their cultural characteristics and joining the main stream society off-late.
these veddoids are closely related to the veddoids of srilanka and the aborigines of central india. they are austro-asiatics and are much closer to australian aborigines. their austric language is still preseved in jarkhand. but these veddoids have long ago last their austric language but speak a proto-tamil dialect somewhat closer to telugu.the local tamil fishermen now-a-days mix with them and employ them as subordinates in fishing expeditions into the deep seas.they are treated as inferiors by local tamil fishermen.
these social interactions are clue to the early dravidian-aboriginal interations that took place when dravidian tribes arrived in this place and how the indegenous civilisation was absorbed into the superior invading race.
there are only identical ideas among scholars about these hypothesis. no systematic book has been written. because i feel it is a responsibility to expose thes chidambaram thoughts to others feel compelled to write as much as possible. gandhi
Hi Seems interesting Since Dr. Pitchappan group is the most advanced in this part of the world we need to talk to them about this . they have simplified the procedure using a mouth wash to segregate the dna. their extensive studies in south tamilnadu has progressed smoothly and I ma sure they would not let this opportunity slip. i will try to reach him next week when I am near madurai.
i have heard of the veddahs of the srilanka, the aborigines of andaman. the two aboriginal castes in tamilnadu whom we are familiar with the irulas and the todas have a common feature in their DNA i have heard. a sickle cell or something( Arun krishnan... where are you?)
