"Pallippadai" Temple of the Emperor Rajaraja Chola - 1
  • I accidently came across a Video Website which speaks of the discovery of the Rajarja Chola - 1 Pallippadai Temple. It is very informative, and I am sure many Readers of "Ponniyinselvan Forum" would have already known of same, or would have viewd same in "Makkal TV" around March 2008.

However for the benefit of others, who are not aware of same or seen it in the TV, I wish to brief them on same as follows:

The precise location of the "Pallippadai" Temple of the Emperor Rajaraja Chola - 1, now in complete ruins left only with a Sivalingam and a square Pedestal, along with two circular pillars with Inscriptions which formed a part of this temple earlier, has been discovered in March 2008 at Udaiyaalur in Palaiyaarai, Tamil Nadu. The region of Udaiyaalur was then known as "Sri Sivapaathasekara Mangalam" and this Pallippadai temple was known as "Sri Rajaraja Thevar" alias "Sri Sivapaathasesekara Thevar Thiru Maalikai"

A Video Website URL on Rajaraja Chola's Pallippadai Temple now in ruins at Udaiyaalur is as follows:

Why not the very enthusiastic & energetic Archaeological & Epigraphist Group of PSVP "if possible" jointly - get an excavation done in the close vicinity of the half buried Sivalingham to discover more royal relics - "possibly" a Copper (or Gold ??) Pot of Ashes of this great Emperor Rajarja Chola - by shear luck.
