Nathaswara Mela @ Thiruvaidaimarthur near Kumbakonam
In Tamil Culture the nadaswaram is considered to be very auspicious, and it is the key instrument which is played in almost all Hindu weddings and temples in TamilNadu. It is part of the family of instruments known as a Mangala Vadya (lit. mangala means auspicious,vadya means instrument). The instrument is usually played in pairs, and accompanied by a pair of drums called thavil. Some of the greatest early exponents of the nadaswaram include ThiruvavaduduraiRajaratnam Pillai, Dr.Thiruvengadu Subramania Pillai and Sangita Kalanidi Thiruvizhimizhalai Subrahmanya Pillai, Thiruvidaimaruthur Veerusami Pillai.
This is the Unique Mahalinga Swami Temple festivals in thiruvidaimaruthur (near Kumbakonam) which is famous for these Nadaswaram and Thavil.
In Thillana mohanambal, Shamugasundaram (Sivaji) visits his guru ( Nagaiah) in Tiruvidamaruthur before his performance in Thiruvayaru temple challenging Mohana ( Padhmini).
Thiruvidamaruthur - as most of us are aware - is surrounded by Parivarakshtras -
and thus the SIVA LINGAM surrounded by such Parivars is MAHALINGAM !!
And we have discussed earlier in group - that Jayandhan s/o Indiran - Dance Master 's Thalaikol figures in the inscriptions found in tvdmrthur. !!
And the Nandavanam crated by Adithakarikalan was expanded by Sembianmadevi after 10 - 15 years and again the same was further expanded for offering flowers to the Temple by Panchavanmadevi - as could be seen from the inscriptions !!
And Vikramachola's (s/o Kulothunga) Pallippadai is nearby tvdmrthur - identified about 2 - 3 years back !!
