Here Vishnu is almost standing like Kanchi but the Amrutha kalash is in the Hands of Garuda.
According to legends the Asuras attacked Dhanvantri. Garuda took the kalash and started going around the world. Asuras chased him. Garuda kept the pot in 4 places in the earth ( to take rest) - some stories tell that 4 drops fell in 4 places - namely Ujjain, Haridwar, Nashik and Prayag - These places the Kumbh ( Amrit Pot) mela is held once in 12 years. That is garuda ran for 12 human years and took rest every 3 years in one place - hence the kumbh melas are held in these places.
Then Vishnu took the form of Mohini and distributed(?).
There is a hint in the post - that kind of brings out the disconnect in the garuda episode. The white horse is the one that is used in the argument between Garuda's mother vinata and her vain sister kadru ( mother of serpents). the story about they seeing the horse and Kadru claiming that the horse had a black tail - the sons of Kadru wrap around the tamil and make it appear black - and hence Vinata becomes Kadru's slave. These events are before Garuda hatches from the Egg....since immdly after this Vinata breaks open one of the eggs to release a half formed Aruna who becomes the charioteer of Surya - before leaving advising his mother to be patient to let Garuda emerge on his own after full gestation.
So chronologically, Garuda cannot be present at the time of the churning?? what do you say
