    This trend started reversing in the period of Parantaga ( i will repost my earlier post on the Murder of Aditya Karikala which refer this change in trend) and during the period of Rajaraja, many towns started changing their names - Like Villupuram town which changed its name from Nirupatunga Jayamthangi Chathurvedimangalam to Jananatha Chaturvedi mangalam.
