all can enter temples? No way_Dr sridhar
  • "as i myself have indicated i have no problem with a few of the
grand old temples being converted to tourist spots to showcase our
architectural capabilities but basically we have to bear in mind
that a temple, church or mosque is a religious place meant for our
communion with god and as such needs to be tretaed with reverence
and not as a pure tourist spot and there certainly needs to be a
restriction on entry of non believers in and around the sanctum
    sanctorum "

This is what I would call as a neutral view point. There
are many temples where people from any religion can enter.Like
iskcon temples, aiyappa temple in sabari mala, pillyar temples in many
villages, aiyanar temples etc.Nobody stops anybody from going there.

In islam dhargas are open for all though purist muslims
wont visit dhargas and wouldnt even call them as islamic. But as dr
sridhar suggested, some hindu sects will feel hurt if a non hindu
enters their temple. For example sri vaishnavas will not allow non
hindus to enter temples. We should respect their sentiments. That is
secularism.Forcing secularism on someone is like the foolish act in
france which banned hijabs. How can a government regulate a personal
    religious belief?

But our architectural marvels too should be highlighted
to outside world. But that need not come at the cost of sacrificing
religion. There has to be some way to do it.

thnks dr for the objective view point.
