Hi,

I am a very recent entrant to your group and am amazed at the
interest generated in PS.

Having read PS, sure all of us have some nagging doubts, which i
presume very intentionally sown by Kalki...his other works SS and PK
don't have this element in it.

Listing down some of the things that still baffle me,not sure if you
had discussed these in your previous posts, please enlighten me if
you have


1. Mandakini's love on arul Mozhi.. my inference is:

- though she is little mad, she does have her motherly instincts
- Arul mozhi was the first child she touches ( when she rescues him
from the river)
- so this is the sole cause for her to pour her affection on him

or does she realise that she wronged her lover, by bearing the child
of another and does so to appease him.

2. Which instrument killed aditya karikalan

there were three knives in the room -

manimekali's knife - but as per later discussions, we find the knife
has no blood on it, plus she was taken away by ganthahamaran on
aditya karikalan's instructions. so she must have come back just
after the incident and inferred that it must have been her lover
vanthiya thevan and tried to save his skin by taking the blame.

veera pandiyan's sword - as per kalki, aditya karikalan lay dead
with this sword. quote" avan udalil veera pandiyanudaiya vaal
painthuirunthathaiyum kandal"
and at that time the sword was in aditya karikalan's hand and
nandini was looking at periya pazhuvettaiyar's entry. So did he
commit suicide. But if so, why did periya pazhuvettaiyar take the
blame on himself and commit suicide. he specially also states on his
death bed that he did so to clear vanthiya thevan's name...

Idumban kari's thirugu val..

This has some blood on it, but whose. Periya pazhuvettaiyar is shown
as advancing towards nandhi with the drawn sword at the time aditya
karikalan is already dead...further in the next scene, in the
mountain cave, pariya pazhuvettaiyar is shown recovering from loos
of blood. he has not regained consiousness since the killing - so
how was he injured. could be he had a fight with soman sambavan and
got injured in the process.

But as he emerges from the cave, he lets go of soman who are fleeing
to the top of mountain throught he secret cave entrance. If indeed
soman sambavan had killed Aditya Karikalan, would'nt he have made an
effort to fight them or atleast accuse them.

There are only three people who could have seen what acutally
happened - Soman Sambavan, Periya pazhuvettaiyar and Vanthiyathevan.

i inlude Vanthiyathevan in this list because of what follows:

3) who wielded the instrument

we can rule out Nandhini...she does not have a knife and is looking
at periya pazhuvettaiyar's entry.

Periya pazhuvettaiyar ....he still had the thiruguval in his hands
when Aditya karikalan is lying dead. and he is thanked by nandhini
for clearing her name at the time of his death bed.

Soman sambavan
They were just entering the room and peeping in when Aditya
Karikalan is slain. further the attitude of Periya Pazhuvettaiyar
towards them in the mountain cave is not clear.

Manimekalai
No motive n cannot kill. More so that she comes forward to take the
blame means she is trying to protect someone....

Aditya karikalan
If it were suicide why is manimekalai taking the blame, why is
periya pazhuvettayar taking the blame.

Vanthiya thevan ...
He is repeatedly spared by nandhini saying he will come of use to
her cause.

why did Periya Pazhuvettaiyar strangle vanthiya thevan ( to the
extent that he almost chokes).....

If u go as per kalki concluding notes...its still unclear of
nandhini's father..if so vt himself says he heard nandhini say veera
pandiyan is her father to kundavai...was he lying.

We see that Vanthiya thevan is a shrewd man n judges that arulmozhi
is a better king..so is the wish of his lady love kundavai. Arul
mozhi dives into the sea to save him n recognises all his services
to him...whereas aditya karikalan immdly doubts if he threw the
spear at the boar or at him..

Here again we need to see the dying statement of Periya
pazhuvettaiyar, he says he killed himself so that Vandiyathevan's
name is cleared and he is able to serve the kingdom and also b'cause
he knew of Kundavaiyar's love to vanthiya thevan.

So ....

But if you ask me the most complex character in the whole plot is
Anbil anirudhar..

Having got all the inputs fm alvarkadiyan why did he not throw the
plotters behind bars immdly. Possibly he knew aditya karikaalan's
character n wanted the better equipped arul to ascend.
